_about the project
ONETIME is a revolutionary race tracking and timing app, the world's first complete solution built from the ground up to be completely remote. It offers event organizers a comprehensive, hassle-free, and robust timing solution, reducing the risk of timing failures and enhancing the overall event experience for both organizers and participants.
_my role
As the lead designer for ONETIME, my role was to oversee the entire design process, from concept to implementation. I worked closely with the co-founder, Connar, to define the product vision and ensure that it aligned with the needs of our target audience. My responsibilities included conceptualization, user experience (UX) design, prototyping, visual design, collaboration with the development team, user testing, and iterative design.
Collaboration with Co-Founder, Connar:My collaboration with Connar, the co-founder of ONETIME, was instrumental in shaping the app's design and functionality. Connar brought a deep understanding of the race timing industry and was able to provide valuable insights into the needs and pain points of event organizers. Our close collaboration ensured that the app addressed these needs effectively and provided a solution that was truly innovative and user-friendly.
"Working with Dejan was truly a delightful experience. From our kick-off meeting to our final delivery, Dejan had the creative depth to go from an idea to a fully finished product. On top of that, he is a world class communicator which makes the process fun and non-intimidating.”

_challenge
The traditional race timing process is often cumbersome and prone to errors. Race organizers typically rely on manual timing methods or expensive, subscription-based timing systems that are limited in functionality and require specialized hardware. These limitations can result in timing failures, inaccurate results, and a poor experience for event participants.
_solution
ONETIME was developed to address these challenges by providing a fully remote and cloud-based timing solution. Utilizing Active RFID technology and UHF systems, ONETIME offers a solution for every race, ensuring accurate and reliable timing data. The app's best-in-class hardware and cloud-based software simplify race setup, giving race organizers more control over their content and improving the overall experience for participants.
_research
Research into ONETIME's app redesign revealed key design objectives, including enhancing user experience, scalability, and simplifying the tech stack. Issues with the current system such as poor admin UI, inadequate result UI, human-dependent processes, confusion between apps, and limited race format support were identified. Proposed features for the new design include improved tracking, redesigned web results UI, a unified mobile app with a new UI, a timing dashboard, and improved platform data mapping, aiming to create a more user-friendly, scalable, and feature-rich platform for event timing and tracking.

_results
Since its launch, ONETIME has revolutionized the race timing industry by offering a comprehensive and remote timing solution that is both cost-effective and easy to use. Race organizers have reported significant improvements in timing accuracy and reliability, leading to higher participant satisfaction and repeat business. By leveraging cloud technology, ONETIME has set a new standard for event timing, providing organizers with the tools they need to deliver a world-class event experience.
_conclusion
My role as lead designer on the ONETIME project was both challenging and rewarding. Working closely with Connar and the rest of the team, I was able to help bring our vision for ONETIME to life and create a product that has revolutionized the race timing industry. ONETIME's success is a testament to the power of collaboration and innovation, and I am proud to have played a key role in its development.
_userflow
Please note that the user flow of the ONETIME Admin Panel cannot be shown due to NDA restrictions.
_old design
As the lead designer for ONETIME, I analyzed the old app's designs and identified key pain points for redesign:
  1. Admin Interface: Poorly designed, scattered functions, steep learning curve.
  2. Result Interface: Lacked functionality and aesthetics, didn't provide relevant information.
  3. Human-Dependent Processes: Too many points of failure requiring human input, added complexity.
  4. Confusion Between Apps: Users often confused different apps, leading to inefficiencies.
  5. Limited Race Format Support: Could only handle basic race formats, limiting utility. The redesign streamlined the admin interface, improved the result interface, automated timing processes, and clarified app distinctions.
_new design
Overall, the new design of the ONETIME app focuses on improving the user experience for both participants and race organizers. With a focus on simplicity, functionality, and efficiency, the redesigned app provides a seamless and enjoyable experience for all users. Whether tracking progress on the go with the mobile app, managing races with the web app, or overseeing operations with the admin panel, ONETIME offers a comprehensive solution for event tracking and timing.
Unfortunately I am unable to share the design of the Admin panel for the ONETIME project due to non-disclosure agreement (NDA) restrictions. However, I am more than happy to discuss the project further or answer any questions you may have within the constraints of the NDA.
